New page.

Really like this one. Some slight copy and paste, but nothing crazy. I like the Cyborg Cardinal character, but I feel like I didn't flesh him out enough in this opening scene. Most importantly, I never mention that the actor's name is actually Camarro. Yes, just one word, like Madonna or Bono. Nonetheless, he's fun. I don't think we'll see him in future episodes, so enjoy him while he's around.

Not much else say. RPD's been under the 1000 mark on The Webcomic List, which is good. Maybe more folks are checking out this latest story than I originally thought. Or maybe my mother is flooding the site again.

NEW BLOG POST.

Been meaning to get back to this. As always, not much to report in the world of Robo Pope. My only focus this year has been on keeping up with new pages, which I've mostly done. The third year anniversary came and went on 8/31, but I never had plans to do any extras for it.

As I've been writing and drawing episode five, I've been losing some of my interest in this comic. Lost story short, there were a few months where I didn't even bother to make new pages, eating up the decent buffer I've created over the past few years. I know quite well not many people read this, but I'm pretty okay with that. I don't really advertise this endeavor, for a few different reasons. I'll save it for another blog post. Before I totally gave up, though, I went back through and read the comic for myself, something I haven't done in a while. Well, I read episodes two through four, at least. I think we can all agree number one is terrible. Maybe I'll redo it some day.

Rereading this thing, I've realized that I really enjoy making this and putting Robo's lame, goofy adventures on the internet. The art isn't always great (example) and the story doesn't really go anywhere, but I'll be damned if it's not at least a little funny. So rather than let the site expire this month, I've renewed it for another year and will be finishing episode five, even it kills me. Once I'm dead, I'll move onto episode six, which has Robo taking to the internet to battle a nefarious troll that is dogging his reputation. I'm hoping it will turn out well.

Anyways, I'm not going to guarantee anything for this blog or for special features, but I will definitely be making pages for some time to come. I enjoy making this comic, and regardless of how many people ever read it, I hope there are some who have enjoyed reading it

Had some trouble uploading the comic. Every page I uploaded turned out blank. Could've sworn the issue was with my host as I rarely ever make mistakes, but re-uploading the pages fixed the issues. Oh well.

We're staring down the ending of Episode Four. Most of the jokes are over, so feel free to "check-out" and wait for Episode Five to kick off the hilarity again. If you wish to see a lame attempt at semi-serious dialogue, though, stick around. That's all I'm saying for now.

Episode Four will be followed by another two week hiatus, allowing me time to ensure Five is ready for public debut. This episode, its plot picked by the fans, revolves around a Spanish soap opera stealing the idea for a "Robo Pope" and the way our real Robo Pope tries to stop them. It's good, I promise.

NEEEEEEW PAAAAAAAAGE.

Four months since my last blog post, and little has changed. Twitter is being updated at random intervals for new pages and other little things. Recently fixed the RSS feed, which confused me last week. Maybe because I tried to update it way too early in the morning.

On the topic of Episode Four, this is probably my favorite episode, though five is shaping up to be fun as well. This page and the one preceding it are the tipping points, as Tempermental Temptress comes into her own and gets a bit crazy from here on. She's great to draw out of those boring clothes (take that statement as you wish) and Robo has a great scene with her coming up.

And apparently I've been spelling "tempermental" wrong for years now. Temperamental.

In honor of Michael Jackson, RPD now has a Twitter account!

If you're on this hip, new internet band wagon, be sure to follow my infrequent updates about new pages, site updates, and other quirks that aren't worth a full blog. Expect it to be used somewhat more than the blog you're now reading.

I must say, I hate this page. The coloring is just really wrong, especially in the last panel. Mostly the shading, which I think has improved in some of the upcoming pages. Here I'm just dashing brush strokes in random spots, trying to see where it makes sense. Around arms and necks is a good start, but one can see where I've gone wrong when they spy Howard's complexion.

I can promise some much better shading in future pages, though. Maybe not the immediate pages, but eventually.

In other news, Howard apprently has teeth. I mean, they don't look bad and hippos have teeth in real life, but I've never decided if he has visible front teeth or not. I think he has them for one or two panels in Episode Two, but this is their first appearance here. Honestly, this is an amateur comic so expect some flubs, but the dental care of my characters is really something I need to figure out. Sometimes they have teeth, other times they have tongues. I'm really just not sure.

At least we get a look into Robo's gastric habits. The man could beat a Japanese dude in an eating contest.

Hopefully you all remember Gregory, the chick-magnet reporter with his own mega-popular blog from Episode Two. Somehow, he's been waiter-ing at Robo's favorite diner for a while now without any other major characters noticing. He's probably working the night shifts.

Gregory, loosely based on a friend, as always been a fun character to write. He'll be around for the whole episode and will have some great opportunities to shine as a supporting character. He gets some of the best lines in the whole episode, I think.

We're just missing one more player before this episode can really kick off. But who might it be, and what might they want? Find out soon on RPD!

There's danger around every turn it seems, though this purple menace looks familiar...

Episode Four is in full swing after the brief hiatus last month. This should be fun episode, full of character development, wacky scenarios, and pancakes. And don't mind that shout-out on the front page, as I'm sure no one will die in this episode... or will they?

On a different topic, the two year anniversary is almost on us! On Monday, August 31st (ten days from now) I will be posting three fantastic things to celebrate two years of amateur heroics.

Ten mini strips starring Grotch, the animated, mutant taco from beyond the food court. Much like Howard's mini-episode last year, these strips will chronicle an unrelated story that really fleshes out the character. This will also be my first official attempt at working in the "four-panel strip" medium, something I've been meaning to try for some time now.

The fans (and by fans I mean people registers at teh-Nook) will be able to vote on the story for the fifth episode of RPD. I'll be posting three of my own ideas, but the forum members will be voting on which one I use. Should be fun.

I'll have a super-secret announcement to make in the forum concerning RPD's cross-over with another major comic! I can't say anymore now, but it's gonna be wicked.

All I need is for everyone to be here ten days from now. Keep in mind that I'm making this content available to just members of teh-Nook, but the forum is free to register with and is a fantastic community all around. Drop in, say hi, and see what happens on August 31st.

Long episode, huh? Took some ten months to reach the end, but I think it was worth it. Plenty of intrigue, some solid jokes, and a deeper look at the city. And even some drama! I hope everyone enjoyed the ride. Tune in next week for one more page.

Also on the topic of next week, I'll be beginning a small hiatus after the final page of Episode Three is posted. For two weeks, there will be no new pages posted as I prepare Episode Four for its debut. I want to make sure everything is prepared before I launch into it. With that said, do not expect new pages on 7/24 or 7/31. Episode Four will begin with its Cover Page on 8/7, kicking off an exciting new adventure for Robo Pope to obliviously conquer.

Despite the file name being "0099," this page is in fact number 100! Remember, I did start the comic on page zero, making this math sensible.

I won't pat myself on the back, as it feels like we should have hit this milestone sooner. That is the trouble with weekly updates, though. Takes longer than you'd like to progress.

To celebrate, there are THREE new wallpapers to be found in the Extras section of the site. These are free to all readers, but will only be available on the site until a new set comes along. Anyone registered at teh-Nook.com will have access to them for the rest of eternity. Pretty sweet deal for a free forum, I say.

I haven't heard anyone say what resolutions I should be making these wallpapers, so all three are 1024 x 768. There is one at 1280 x 1024, though, if that's better for anyone. Mostly I work in full-screen, as that's the type of monitor I own. If anyone wants to see something in widescreen for the next batch of wallpapers, let me know in the forum, comment here, or by email.

In other news, I hope to have something prepared for the two-year anniversary on August 31st. No guarantees, though.

Not only are we nearing the end of Episode Three, but we'll also hit the 100th page before the next episode! July 3rd should be the big day. Following along the RPD calendar, we see that Episode Three should end on July 17th with a captivating finale, and after a small, two week hiatus, Episode Four will kick off with loads of mystery and intrigue! Four will be very character driven, playing out on a small scale compared to Three's corporate conspiracies and mutant mobs.

On the topic of the 100th page, I have no clue what I should do to celebrate, if anything. Maybe some wallpapers or other exclusive art, for starters. Or maybe I could do the unthinkable and invest in some advertising for the comic! Ha!

I'll play around with some ideas for now, but feel free to drop a line via email or comment here.

Man, did I pick a bad time to stop blogging for two months. Literally EVERYTHING has happened since last December's post. Let's review:

Robo has an impostor who looks nothing like him!

He was also almost killed!

A limited edition copy of Kick-Boxing Nuns: Round 2 WAS actually killed. The funeral will be on Sunday.

We now know what happened to RP's old blue sunglasses.

We've been introduced to a new enemy. The global company, Complex Inc, is sure to be hatching some evil schemes. I have plans for this new entity, so remember them.

Future Detroit has a lame, closed-down theme park.

Robo has the cutest door mat you'll ever see.

And don't forget, the site is updated through all of Episode Three. I've been sitting on this code for too long and just wanted to use it. I may have a few more improvements or additions to implement this year, but I like what I have right now. Let me know what you, as well.

The archives of Episodes One and Two will updated in the near future.

Not my comics, of course. There's only one of those a week.

No, I've found two wicked comics that put all others to shame. To be technical, I found one and the other has been affiliated with Robo Pope Digital for some time now. A few days ago, I stumbled across an illusionary-game/webcomic called MS Paint Adventures. Since then I've read/played the entirety of its premier attaction, Problem Slueth, simply amazed at the wild turns in the story and the kinetic animations. Great find that I suggest everyone check out. I'm not one for plugs, but this comic impressed me.

The other comic find is actually the return of my long-time favorite: O31: October 31st. Telling the tale of a rotting California gushing with sleaze and violence, it's the perfect blend of Mad Max-brand leather apocalypse and clean, animation-worthy illustrations. The sisters King combine their illustrative might with a new background artist to make some pages that I find truly stunning. The comic begins in earnest this Monday, the seventeenth, so bookmark it. Now.

It's really here! Robo Pope's house is totally here, and totally... boring.

Yes, the world-renowned Robo Pope lives in a suburban home painted blue. It's not very exciting, nor is it very glamorous. He seems to dig it though, but I can't say why he's sleeping on the couch in his living room. You would think he would have a bedroom, with, you know, a bed in it. But whatever. I hope everyone enjoys this scene, as I found it turned out pretty funny. Stick with us and see what happens, everyone.

In site-related news, I finally added some more comics to the Extras section. Added to the list of wicked webcomics that I read are Awkward Zombie, Castle Vidcons, Eegra, and Gunshow. These I could think of off the top of my head, though I'm missing some, I'm sure. If anyone reading knows of a comic worth promoting, let me know and I'll check it out.

Part of the fun is never knowing what day I'll update the blog!

The last page of this initial scene only lays on more mystery for you poor readers! First the crazed hobo, then some weird security guys, and now this shadowy figure? Even I can't take the ambiguity for much longer!

Luckily, we'll be moving on to a new scene and setting, hopefully bringing about some answers in the process. No guarantees, though. I can guarantee that we'll see a pretty anticipated backdrop, if that helps at all.

I must say, the latest page just adds to all of the questions while not answering a single one. Who knows what's going on here and why those men want hoboes? Well, aside from me.

I don't have much to say on this week's page, but I will let everyone know that I envisioned the white SWAT-type guy being John Travolta. So as you read his lines, imagine them being spoken with a wicked Brooklyn accent straight out of the seventies.

Now things are starting to heat up! Who are these mysterious men and how did they know of this disruptive hobo? Will Harry and his business survive this deranged encounter? And will Robo Pope ever come out from behind that coat rack? All will be revealed in this exciting, all-new episode of Robo Pope Digital!

...that's my plug for the week. My opinion on this page has been in flux since I started it. I realized, while doing early planning work, this would be a difficult set-up to illustrate, especially with my skills. I attempted it the best I could, and I think the main idea is intact. Some of the line-work is far from my best, but there's only so much I can do in the time I have to make some of these more complex pages. I'm really proud of the background, though. Most of the work went into the "middle" panel which really sets the scene. Hopefully, it gives the readers out there a strong visual sense of Harry's diner and just what damage is being caused. I know it definitely helped me shape the place for future scenes.

We'll be leaving Harry and his wonderful establishment behind very soon, but luckily, everyone will get a chance to see a more anticipated backdrop next. Stay tuned, kids.

Any veteran's out there, this week?

Ever since I wrote this page's dialog, I've worried that the "I don't have to take this; I'm a veteran!" line was a bit much. The line still stands because it's funny, of course, and this is a humor comic. But still, I think it's the most "offensive" thing this comic has done yet, and I would call it pretty tame by the internet's standards. Quite simply, RPD has been a project that I want to keep relatively clean. The swearing from the older versions (which are not available online) is gone and Robo Pope's trusty "Catholic Avenger," a Deagle-like pistol, hasn't been seen in almost two years. I'm not against rude humor or any "adult" themes, per say. I've just found these things to be inappropriate for Robo, a superhero with a pretty innocent, dumb demeanor. Hopefully being squeaky clean won't ruin the comic for anyone.

On the illustrative side of things, this page also took a while. Just thinking up Harry's Breakfast Shack really took some time, on top of the details I added. We'll get a better look at the place in the future, but hopefully this is a good taste for now. And speaking of taste, look at the detail on the syrup! It's like it is really covering some homeless guy's hands! I'm quite proud of it, if I may say.

Keep an eye open for a big twist next page!

Page Two! Yay! This one is a pretty fun page, though I hope the whole scene turns out to be the same for all the readers out there. I had a lot of fun putting this page together, even though I spent an awful lot of time on it. I like the way it came out, that's for sure. The character in the first panel is the owner of Harry's 24-Hour Breakfast Shack... Harry. Obviously. He has a small introduction in this episode, but I actually hope to have him return in the near future. Keep an eye out for his shiny, smooth head later.

Here's something small I whipped up during the week. Savvy readers (and gamers) may recognize the "concept" of this image, but I won't ruin the joke for anyone. Just something weird I've been meaning to do.

But trust me, there won't be a slow start for this comic.

I really dig this page, even though I had to edit a few things after finishing it not too long ago. Most notably, Harry's 24-Hour Breakfast Shack did some remodeling and turned from orange to blue. This little diner that could plays a small role in Episode Three, but will return for a bigger event in Episode Four. So don't go forgetting about it.

The one bad thing about this page is that it has made me realize how barren Future Detroit is, at times. I tend to think of the city as having a decent population, but I never think to draw pedestrians or other cars when working on my backgrounds. The convention center of Episode Two showed that there are plenty of people in the city (or at least commuting to it), but this episode is a bit empty. To be fair though, this does place in the middle of the night. It is a 24-Hour Breakfast Shack, after all.

Well, sorta. It's just the cover page, but boy is it great! This is the first cover page I've done myself in a while but astute readers will see some similar themes found in the bonus cover page I posted last month. THE LAST PAGE!

This is the last page of Episode Two, and the last glimpse of some particular character until later in the series. I have plans for everyone though, except Grotch. He's just too weird to come back. Hopefully...

I hope everyone enjoyed this episode and got a few laughs from it. In particular, I hope this final page is an improvement over the last newspaper page. I made the "paper" lighter in color and tried to make the text as readable as possible. There aren't any ads to take up space this time, but I may try to fit some in for the next edition. Here's to hoping that bird flu story is just a rumor, eh?

The thrilling conclusion!

It's the next-to-last page! Take a good look, kids, because this is the last glimpse we'll have of some of these characters for a while. Everyone introduced here will play a big later in the comic, for sure, but Episode Three will take a different route. It's an old idea I've been meaning to use forever, so I just can't sit on it any longer. We may see a few familiar faces pop up in this upcoming episode though, so stay tuned!

As for this page itself, it's not one of my favorites. The colors worked out great and I think I pulled off the rushing mob as well as I could, but in retrospect, this page was a bit rushed. I was really anxious to end the episode. Despite that, and Robo's wacky proportion in relation to the convention center, I think it'll be a solid ending for the episode. During the first revision of the ending, it was a bit jarring to go from inside the Q&A hall to the starry outdoors, hence why this page was necessary. I hope the "door" transition helped smooth thinks out for you readers.

The "End" for Episode Two will be here next week, ladies and gentlemen!

I hope everyone got a kick out of the new content and the one-year celebration. If you haven't heard already, the site's been redesigned, a new cover has appeared for Episode One, and a new mini-episode starring Howard the Secret Agent Hippo is available in the forum for registered members. Check 'em out!

Now, I'd like to go over some of the changes to the website that have been instated this past weekend:

Most notably is the new graphic design, something I've been wanting to work on for a while. The old theme was too blocky and red, honestly. I was proud of it and still am, but I wanted something a little cleaner and more professional to show off Robo's wicked coolness.

I've removed TopWebComics and BuzzComix after losing my accounts there. My TWC account stopped working mysteriously a few months ago (one reason why I haven't done a new vote page in a long time), and BuzzComix completely updated there site last month, wiping out the member data of every comic. Neither site has brought me any viewers, so keeping them and restarting my profiles there would be more pain than it would be worth. The Webcomic List is the only site I still use.

The Links page is gone and has made way for the Extras page. On it are free wallpaper, new advertising banners, and some other updates.

Sitemeter is no longer my source for visitor info. I learned recently that the Sitemeter code implants a cookie into any browser it touches, allowing the company to view ANY traffic the affected browser is involved in. Even my browsing was being tracked outside of this site, which was unacceptable. I've replaced them with Statcounter, which I have heard many good things about.

Also, I've updated the Creative Commons License for the site, though that doesn't mean much. I mean, who's going to try and rip off this comic or any of the ideas I dream up?

The big day!

August 31st is almost here! Robo Pope Digital will celebrate it's first year of online stardom this Sunday.

Here's the low down on what we'll be doing for this monumental day:

A full, brand-new mini-episode starring everyone's favorite anthropomorphic mercenary, Howard the Secret Agent Hippo! He'll be sneaking through the tattered land Oogblekistan to assassinate a former-television star who is know a terrorist cult leader.

Episode One's Cover Page, the page that started it will, receive a small makeover. The original page has never been up to my standards, so a new, better illustrated page will be posted showcasing both Robo and his scaly adversary.

Finally, there will be a full site redesign. Some old info will be cut out, some new items will be added, and the site itself will receive a much needed facelift. I'll go over the changes in detail on the big day, but just be forewarned that Robo Pope Digital will be a whole lot sexier is just two days.

It's been a while since I've had anything to post, but now the forum has a few new things to talk about! Excuse the absence, but once again, there's been little to talk about.

We've got something to chat about now, though! One of my favorite pages has finally been posted, and I'm happy to see it. Just the humor and Gregory's expressions really struck me after I made this page. I hope it does the same for you fans out there.

This whole scene, introducing Gregory, is my favorite so far. Introducing Howard was enjoyable, too, but he's more difficult to explain in just a few panels and still have room for jokes. Grotch is equally fun to illustrate... But he doesn't have much plot or back story behind him just yet.

Gregory, on the other hand, is simple enough to understand in seconds, but rich enough to last the comic's lifespan, I think. He's a single-minded guy, visually based on a long-time friend of mine. Thanks to his contemporary clothes and shaggy hair, he's a breath of fresh air for my character designs, considering he's not an unholy monster or wearing some seriously weird costume. He plays a support role in the episode alongside Howard and Grotch, but he'll have more to do in future episodes if I have my way.

Quite a bit to talk about this week:

-A new wallpaper is posted, just as promised. It illustrates the insatiable appetite of Robo Pope's fans, so be sure to sign up and check it out.

-A long-time RPD fan, and main brain behind Teh Nook, has started up an "Ask Robo!" kind of thread here, also. Be sure to check it out for exclusive info on our favorite superhero and to ask him a few questions.

-Apparently Webbed Comics, one of the sites listing Robo Pope Digital, up and died. I'll be editing it out of the site over the next week or so, so don't be surprised when the number of voting options drops down to three.

-Speaking of voting, I put the old habit of vote pages on hold while working on a major mini-episode (oxymoron?), but it seems that is now on hold, too. Howard's first solo adventure on the internet is bogged down, but I'll still finish it in the future. It has no release date, just yet. When it does arrive, it'll be exclusive to the forum, though.

With regards to the latest page, this is a bit of an old joke. The glory of fried food on a stick will be familiar to long time fans, though I doubt the humor is lost on anyone new to the series.

The last of the character biographies is posted, this time featuring the dastardly, jiggly villain known only as Jello Mold. He'll jump into the spotlight real soon.

Also coming up, I'll be posting a brand new wallpaper next Friday in the forum. It'll play off of Episode Two, and will be the first of two wallpapers planned so far for this episode.

While waiting, though, why not check out the latest page of Episode Two? It's running along quite nicely, despite my lack of comments. We've just wrapped up Howard's introduction and now we can see the evil tactics of the comic's sole "villainess" so far. What will she do to Robo Pope? What is Space Pope's grudge against our favorite not-as-Catholic-as-one-would-imagine Pope? And what's wrong with that semi-colon guy?

Let's just ignore the fact that there's been a lack of news recently, shall we?

It's come to my attention that Teh Nook recently changed its server/host/URL/thing, so the forum link has been 404ing all over the place. I've already updated the main pages and two most recent archive pages to the new link, but I won't update the remainder of the archive for another day or so. It's just a lot of tedious work. Now is as good a time as ever to join up and enjoy the official Robo Pope fan community, though!

The character introductions are going strong, with only a few more faces to reveal. Once I've got them all posted, I'll have Episode Two's first wallpaper ready to post, as well.

I've started work on a new mini-episode featuring Howard the Secret Agent Hippo, though I don't have a planned release for it just yet. Hopefully we'll see it in May, but that's still up in the air. Details are sure to follow.

Despite this being the first Friday of a new month, I don't have any vote pages prepared. I decided to cancel them this month in favor of a yet-to-be-announced mini-episode which I hope to post in the coming month or so. It'll be about three times as long as the previous mini-episode, 'Twas the Night of Terror!!, so I think it'll be worthwhile.

In better news, we have an up-close glimpse at Space Pope, Robo Pope's apparent arch-nemesis, in Page Thirteen. Also, his bio has been posted in the forum, so be sure to read up on him.

After a small hiatus, I have a barrel full of new content to present. A great deal of it has been available at the forum for a week now, so dedicated fans have already scoped it out. For those not apart of the massive party that is the Robo Pope forum, though, I hope this news will sway you into joining. FOR FREE.

-This month's vote pages are available on this page of the Recent Page Discussion thread. I had a small issue with Topwebcomics, so I couldn't post the two pages via the normal method. This may become the standard method of delivery for vote pages in the future, so stay tuned.

-On that same page, one can find a bit of bonus artwork to celebrate the end of winter feature Robo Pope and a yet-to-be-introduced character.

-In this thread there are weekly character biographies for every new face to show up in Episode Two. Right now you can read about Howard the Secret Agent Hippo and Gregory.

I also hope to post a new wallpaper in the next few weeks, but those details aren't final just yet. As always, check out the latest page and sign up at the forum for a mess-load of free content.

Obligatory update

Any fans who check out this blog with frequency must have noticed the lack of updates over the past three weeks. Now, I assure everyone that I have a truly deserving reason for neglecting this development blog:

...I just haven't had anything to talk about. Beyond the quasi-new art style, nothing has changed for RPD. As winter drags on, I've yet to plan any major additions to the forum or means to advertise the comic, though I do hope to rectify both of those in the future. For the time being, there's just not much to talk about in this blog. The comic is doing great, as I've got a lot of progress made behind-the-scenes and there are plenty of splendid pages coming each and every Friday. I may have some bonuses in the near future, though I make no guarantees.

There is one thing I can talk about now, though. It's the first Friday of a new month, which means we have two more vote pages! Buzzcomix shows us just what happened to the autographed copy of Episode One seen a few weeks ago on Page Two. Topwebcomics gives a glimpse into the advertising of HeroCon, which is the exciting setting for Episode Two.

That's all for now. Maybe I'll have some other bonuses to put up in the forum soon, but I really can't say for sure. I can guarantee that there will always be a new page each Friday as this thrilling new episode unfolds and introduces us to some new faces. Be here next week, folks!

Small change.

Along with Page One of Episode Two, I have a small announcement to make.

I've made a shift in the overall art style, though it only affects the coloring of characters. The above image should illustrate the change sufficiently for those who don't want to read an explanation.

Long story short, I'm using a different kind of shading, along with deeper colors, to make my characters appear more cartoon-like. I think it looks cleaner and more appealing, though I'd like to hear other opinions. The original method for shading my characters simply involved burning or dodging their colors in Photoshop, which essentially means the affected color became darker or brighter. It looked rather unnatural though, and didn't have the superhero style I'm trying to portray. As such, I've made this switch. With the new style, shadows and facial features are more pronounced, and colors are more typical and logical than before. No longer will Robo Pope's skin glow with angelic beauty.

Not much in the grand scheme of things, but I figure I should have an explanation for it just in case someone notices.

The new year has begun with a bang!

Though no, there's no new artist on the RPD bandwagon. There is, however, a flipping sweet guest page! Done by a wonderful friend of mine, Nancy, it is the official cover page for Episode Two of Robo Pope Digital: Hero ConCarnage! She's one half of the creative force behind O31: October Thirty-First, one of my favorite webcomics. It is currently on hiatus, but I've been assured it will come back, bigger and better than ever in the future.

Now, I realize this guest page looks tremendously better than anything I've ever put out... And that probably won't change. Nancy is a life-long artist who is infinitely better than I currently am. Proud I may be of my artwork and the progress I've made in illustrating Robo Pope over the years, she's proved time and time again that she knows exactly what she's doing when she has a pen in her hand. She's been generous enough to give me tips, advice, and other help when it comes to my artwork, so I've always appreciated her friendship and opinion.

I also appreciate this amazing cover page she pulled together in her spare time, which is a pretty amazing work of comic book fantasy. I bet a lot of you readers wish she would do this whole comic and relieve you of my artwork, but I'm afraid she has a comic of her own to develop. So you're all stuck with me! Ha!

There's a lot more to talk about on the way, but I'll leave it for another update as we dig deeper into Episode Two. Look forward to it, everyone, and be here next Friday!

EDIT: Nearly forgot the vote pages. Buzzcomix has a bit of character art inspired by the radical FPS game Team Fortress 2 while Topwebcomics shows the clean-up effort after Robo Pope toppled that monstrous monster. Check them out, people.

Early update.

Today see's the twentieth page of RPD, the last one of Episode One, a day early! I'm expecting my world to be hyper busy for the next weekend or so, which means I wanted to get Robo Pope out of the way. The latest page is up and ready to go, and there will be a new one next Friday, the fourth.

Now, this page will be a recurring theme. With each episode we complete, it'll end on one of these newspaper clipping-type pages. Kind of taking the superhero cliche of newspaper headlines that exclaim the hero's great deeds and making it the finale for each episode. It's a fun way for me to fit weird stories and a lot of humor into the text.

The next page will be up next year on January 4th, along with two new vote pages (hopefully). And to add the excitement, the newest page will a guest page! Yay!

Christmas time!

Robo Pope is ready to celebrate his third favorite holiday, just behind his birthday and the Fonz's birthday, with his new mini-episode! Waiting for all the good little girls and boys just underneath the festive tree that is the official Robo Pope forum is the comic's first ever mini-episode. Each day until Christmas, I'll post a new page in the episode, with five in total. Packed within those pages are laughs, jokes, humor, and suspense as Robo Pope fights desperately to save Santa Claus from a psychotic Christmas tree.

Intrigued? You should be! This mini-episode is available only to those who register at the forum, which is entirely free, so get to it if you haven't already! If there's enough support for this little diversion, I'll make more in the future.

I'll finally be out of school. Wicked!

My fall semester will be wrapped up today, which, in Robo-related terms, means I'll have more time to work on the comic. I'm off for the next month, though I'm still working my day job, but I'll still have enough extra time to really hammer into the comic. I'm hoping to get a lot done soon, including starting up Episode Two and posting some holiday bonus pages in the forum in the next week. For those wondering, it'll be Christmas themed. As questionable as Robo Pope's religious practices may or may not be, he still looks like a Catholic. He's got to celebrate Christmas, right?

There's no real big news, aside from Page Eighteen's debut and some upcoming holiday pages, but I still felt like updating everyone. I hope everyone digs the final few pages of Episode One and has a righteous holiday!

Second, I put up a new wallpaper a few days ago. I was planning to hold it back until Episode One was finished (just three updates left!), but I gave in to temptation and released on the same day as my birthday last Monday. It ties into the current episode, so I think everyone should check it out. Register with the forum and then check out this thread for the wallpaper. It's exclusive to the forum, so it won't be available anywhere else.

Finally, Buzzcomix and TopWebComics both have new vote pages. Buzzcomix gives a glimpse at Robo Pope's newfound popularity on the interweb while TopWebComics shows how the local newscasters are reacting to their currently-falling comrades.

Some troubles.

I believe the site is down for the moment and I'm not sure why. It did the same thing a few months ago and only lasted a few hours, so everything should be fine by tomorrow. My host must just have server trouble from time to time. If things don't fix themselves tomorrow, I'll do what I can to contact my host and see if there's anyway to get the site up and running. Everything should be fine by Friday, so no pages will be missed.

In other news, I've added a few new means of advertising for Robo Pope Digital. Firstly, he has a MySpace profile as requested by the forum members. If you'd like to add him to your friends list, feel free! I'll be adding content to the page as time goes on. Also, I've set up a Comixpedia entry for the comic. I'll add to it as time goes on, but it's just like an other Wiki page or similar. Anyone with an account can edit the entry and help flesh it out.

That's all for the time being. I'll update the links page and forum in due time, and hopefully the site will be running again soon.

Page Twelve is here! It isn't the prettiest page in the world but it has good reason for its ugliness. It's set in the innards of a massive monster with bad breath!

In other news, we're officially on the first Friday of the new month and with that comes votes pages! We have a two-parter this month, with Buzzcomix showing the first half and Topwebcomics has the ending half of the story. It centers on what happens to a famous TV buddy-pair on a fishing excursion when the vile mega-monster shows up. Any TVLand fans will dig it, I'm sure.

That's all for the time being. I'm putting together some wallpapers, so I'll post news when they arrive (I have no set date or schedule for them, obviously). When they do arrive, though, I'll post them exclusively in the forum, which will require registration to access. I guess you folks really like Page Eleven.

Now, I say the following with the notion that webcomic rankings aren't all that important or life-altering in mind, but I still think this is worth a comment. Last week, RPD had been hovering in the 1100's on the webcomic list's rankings after a solid stay in the 800 and 900's. I was kind of disappointed, to be honest. Imagine my surprise today when, after uploading the newest page just a few hours prior, that Robo Pope Digital is in the top two hundred! Being a comic only in its second month, and on its twelfth page, it's very exciting.

I know that TWCL bases their rankings on an algorithm that takes into consideration the amount of hits a comic gets in a day, so RPD has probably just had a good day while other comics have just been a bit slow. Regardless, its a nice little milestone to commemorate.

My greatest thanks to everyone who has checked out the site so far, and even more appreciation to those that have enjoyed it!

There had been little to talk about last week (along with a rather shoddy page) so this is the first blog update in a while. I have some new ideas to implement in the forum over the next week or two, I suggest anyone who isn't a member join up now. Page Eight is up on the site, but that's not all. Two new votes pages are available today.

Buzzcomix shows the kinds of destruction the evil lizard monster unleashed upon the city before Robo Pope showed up. Topwebcomics explains the woes of the young woman from Page Three after her car is crushed.

I think I may institute a once-a-month schedule for vote pages, with the first Friday of each month seeing two new pages. If demand changes, though, I'll try to do more pages over time.

Buzzcomix and Top Web Comics are hosting vote incentives for Robo Pope Digital! Clicking those links and voting for the comic will show you an exclusive, not-available-anywhere-else bonus page! Buzzcomix's page relates to Page Seven and provides some motivation for Robo Pope's apparent rage, while Topwebcomics' incentive is influenced by my time with Halo 3 this week.

From what I know Webbedcomics doesn't feature incentive support and The Webcomic List doesn't even have a vote system, so neither have incentives. Still, any support through either site is greatly appreciated.

Page six is live, folks!

Just like clockwork, RPD's schedule is sinking in and working out the kinks. I promise to have a new page ready each Friday, no matter what. There will be no filler, no half-finished pages, and no missed updates as long as I'm writing and drawing this thing. So do yourself and the rest of humanity a favor by checking out page seven next week.

On the topic of page six, I must say it's a fine example of my artwork. Though I'm no Picasso, I would like to think this is a fairly strong page with plenty of gruff detail and eye-popping effects. I'm not proud of Robo's rushed line work, but considering how long it took to pull the page together, he looks adequate. Page five is a better showcase of his look, though.

Early update and an explanation

As promised, the fifth page of Episode One has been posted today. I'll be without internet tomorrow, so you fantastic fans get to see Robo's inner-most thoughts and fears a day early.

Hooray!

For the record, I have no set time of day for updates. I'll put up the new page and update the archives as soon as possible, but I'm sure there will be a day (today for example) where I don't get the update online until later in the day. I'll do my utmost best to put up the latest page as early into the day as possible, but sometimes it won't happen for a while. Be it my forgetful mind, busy schedule (I have a part-time job and college classes that take up large chunks of my time), or some random emergency, there'll be something to eventually undo my tightly wound update schedule. I do promise to you readers that I will have the update posted as soon as I can possibly can, though. Even if that means it'll be a day late due to unstoppable circumstances (I'm talking about an actual emergency, not a mountain of homework or simple laziness), I'll still have the page up as soon as I can, within reason.

I have a strong buffer of pages, so I'll never be behind simply because of writer's block or poor illustrations. I'll always have new pages and somewhat-on-time updates, no matter what may happen.

Excuse me for being a tad busy, and forgetful, but Friday saw the very first update of Robo Pope Digital! AMAZING!

I just love that word.

Anyways, one page may not seem like it was worth a whole month's wait, but I promise it'll only get better from here. The site is running just fine, and I officially have no problems updating it from here on out. New pages will be consistently posted, with no filler or missed updates. You can guys expect a new page either each Friday, or late Thursday night, depending on my schedule.

In the near future we'll have bonus stuff in the forum, vote incentives, and banners for everyone to sport around the web and show off their love for Robo Pope! So remember, sign up at the forum to get in on the ground floor, and have a blast at the same time.

Tomorrow is the big day! A brand new page will be posted on the site, ceremoniously kicking off Robo Pope Digital's weekly updates!

I just can't wait!

To prepare for Robo Pope's incredible heroism and sense of humor, which he will display frequently in the comic, take a look at a few of the original pages of Robo Pope Digital posted last year. You can check them out here but you must sign up at Teh Nook, which is shockingly easy, in order to view them. It's worth it, though! Teh Nook is a fine establishment filled with colorful folks and lively topics. Of course, there will also be tons of exclusive Robo Pope Digital content posted there over time, but that's not important, is it?

Yes, there's something worth talking about!

Now, when anyone navigates the site, the FORUM button will finally work! Up until now, that button just linked straight back to the index as the Robo Pope Digital forum was unavailable at the time. But just yesterday, the new forum was activated, giving Robo Pope's fans the perfect place to hang out and talk about how much they love him.

Or just say random things about the comic, whatever you guys want. Nevertheless, the forum is ready to be flooded with fan art and all sorts of spam, so get to it, people! Over time, once weekly updates have begun, I'll be posting bonus works in the forum exclusive to the members who frequent it, so that's yet another fantastic reason to join the ONLY official Robo Pope community today.

Just want to point out the new vote buttons above the latest page on the site's homepage. They're there for testing purposes, plus I now have updated accounts at all of those sites, which will be useful later for advertising purposes. If anyone would like to vote for the comic right now, then feel free to do so. But, if you think a comic with only three viewable pages that hasn't even started its weekly updates yet isn't worth voting for, I don't mind. They're just up for the sake of it, right now. I'll add some vote incentives to them and encourage their use in the coming months, along with other forms of advertising.

We're exactly four weeks away, folks! It may seem like a while, but I'm sure this time will be well spent and well worth it for everyone.

As none of you may have noticed, there was no update yesterday.

Yes, I do realize that the headers of robopope.org and even this blog clearly state that the comic updates on Friday. Unfortunately for you fans, though, that update schedule hasn't taken effect just yet. Thankfully, that is going to change very soon. Starting Friday, August 31st, brand new pages of Robo Pope Digital will appear from the woodwork and grace the world with their divinely bad-ass presence.

You see, RPD is just getting up onto its feet. The three pages now are meant to test out the site's stability and entice web-goers into bookmarking the comic and coming back for more later. Now, with everything quickly falling into place, we can all look forward to Robo Pope's soon-to-be regular appearances on his site starting in just a month. Once these weekly updates start, the real fun will begin.

I ask everyone to just hang around for a bit and keep an eye on RPD and this blog until the thirty-first of next month. Once that date rolls around, we'll all have the chance to enjoy Robo Pope's misadventures every week.

Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Robo Pope Digital!

You're now reading the official development blog for the internationally-renowned webcomic, Robo Pope Digital, or RPD for short. RPD is a superhero comic with tons of humor and heaping amounts of action starring none other than the famously famous Robo Pope! With his utter lack of super powers and excessively lazy demeanor, he foils the bad guys, slays the hideous monsters, and woos all the fine ladies. It is updated every Friday (starting soon), and is awesome.

...yeah, even I thought that paragraph was a little cheesy, but I have to sell this thing, don't I? Now, seriously, I'm Brody. And this is my personal blog. I'll be updating it with info on my webcomic, its developments, and other things. I'm not sure what the other things are just yet.

For the time being, though, this will be a bit bare. I have the website up and running, with three pages up for viewing, but I won't be starting regular updates just yet. Hopefully by late August (I'm in the United States which means it is summer here and it is the year 2007, just so you know) I'll have everything planned out and new pages ready to post. In the meantime, have some fun on the site, notify me here of any problems you may come across, and feel free to comment! I love to hear from fans and everyone else.
